The 20th century was seen as the collapse of human error, capitalism and humanity With the end of the modern era, there was a strive for global domination through out the world.  European / "western"assertion of superiority over all cities and move from a colonial empire. Through the development of capitalism guided by enlightenment values. Main difference between empire and colony was that an empirical conquest was a conquest of nearby communities and people conquered are respected and usually benefit from the conquering.
