Capitalism can be define as an "economic or political where the country's trade and and industry are controlled by private owners for profit rather than the state."(Dictionary.com) During this time period there were 2 waves of colonial expansion that capitalism brought. By expanding its grip to  North and South America. Spain, Portugal, and Britain sought out to invade the Americas. Longterm consequences were severe and long term, the native people were permanently displaced due to the Europeans and Africans. The "second wave" of colonial expansion occurred in Africa, Asia, and Australia by most European countries including Britain, France, and the Netherlands. For the Australian people, the closest colonial expansion would be the first wave due to the impact it had on the Natives. Many of which were killed due to diseases and others.

Industrial Revolution Movement from state side to to cities, moving from agriculture to business and the push of overpopulation due to the move to cities. Businesses moved to creating the assembly line that would later be used towards the manufacturing of cars.People started using fossil fuel to power their engines at the time due to the amount of burning fossil foil their has been an increase to a point that has never seen before. The rules for workers went up, longer hours, less breaks, more child labor would be used in the textile industry. The 20th century was seen as the collapse of human error, capitalism and humanity With the end of the modern era, there was a strive for global domination through out the world.  European / "western"assertion of superiority over all cities and move from a colonial empire. Through the development of capitalism guided by enlightenment values. Main difference between empire and colony was that an empirical conquest was a conquest of nearby communities and people conquered are respected and usually benefit from the conquering. Colonial the people that are taken over are seen as slaves and are stripped of their belongings and are told to worship the king or nation that has conquered them. More talk about the Enlightenment ideology and the "echos." The three main concepts being carried out through this time of the enlightenment consisted of Popular Sovereignty, liberty, and equality. Being the back bone to the cause of the American revolution that later inspired the french soldiers that helped the Americans with their own revolution. Because of this the Haitian revolt occurred which resulted in the first successful slave revolt. Shortly after the Haitian revolt the Spanish-American revolution occurred pushing towards a better life with the concepts of freedom and equality. This ideology was not only used for revolution but for reforms and social movements such as the women rights movement and the abolishment of slavery.
